STATUS: Temporary Part Time

The Salvation Army Corps in Apache Junction, AZ is looking to fill a vacant Outreach Worker position. The successful candidate for this position will be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances, maintain a non-judgmental attitude, professional approach and maintain boundaries with clients.

The Outreach Worker will monitor and prepare supplies for homeless outreach. They will pass out water and supplies to those in need. This person will work with the Social Services staff to access and utilize available resources to assist clients in need. This employee will provide outreach and engagement to help the homeless population in navigating mainstream benefits and available resources to encourage self sufficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Must be 21 years or older with a valid Arizona Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass The Salvation Army’s online fleet safety e-learning
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, with ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Able to maintain a non-judgement attitude, professional approach and boundaries with clients
  • Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless, to utilize crisis intervention, & conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to access and identify at risk situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to work within established policy guidelines and accept directions and follow instruction

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer and to understand written information.
