PAY GRADE: H Instructional Support Paraeducator - Academics (ALC) |
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt |
POSITION OBJECTIVE: Under direction of a certified teacher, instructs students and adapts curriculum to meet needs of students. Duties include: administering tests and assessments; monitors students IEP progress; and documents behavior, progress, and results of student activities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require): High School Diploma or G.E.D., and one year of educational or clerical experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. | |
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: (positions in this class typically require): Licensing Requirements: Title Schools: 60 hours of secondary education or successful completion of the Paraprofessional test; Special Needs: Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Applicants recommended for hire will receive instructions on how to obtain a fingerprint clearance card as a condition of employment.

KNOWLEDGE: (position requirements at entry): Knowledge of: Basic first aid; Basic mathematical skills; Customer service principles; Computer operations; Classroom operations and activities.

SKILLS: (position requirements at entry): Skill in: Monitoring and assisting children with activities; Using office equipment; Dealing patiently with children; Maintaining order, discipline, and interest of children; Performing routine mathematical calculations; Providing customer service; Utilizing a computer and related software applications; Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations; Preparing simple memos, letters, and/or other related written correspondence; Reading and interpreting routine information from schedules, memos, and/or other written documentation; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to odors, extreme temperatures, and intense noises.
