Position Description

The Town of Marana is seeking a Maintenance Associate III to work in the Parks and Recreation Department - Trails Division. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working with a dynamic team in the Recreation Division creating great outdoors experiences in Marana, a community that raises the bar for the best quality of life.

Schedule:
10-hour days, Monday-Thursday, with occasional weekend work. Hours may vary depending on the season and the needs of our recreation programs; workdays and start times may vary, including the possibility of weekend shifts.

Expected Hiring Range: $19.12 - $23.42 per hour
Salary Range: $19.12 - $27.73 per hour

  • placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget
Examples of Duties

  • Leads volunteer groups; provides service to internal and external customers.
  • Constructs tread for Trail Corridor including installing new trail and drainage, rock armoring existing trail, and repairing tread, molars, crib walls, and rock structures.
  • Monitors and implements maintenance of tread, existing structures, and cleans out drainage as needed; Brushes and grubs Trail Corridor
  • Assists with implementation of recreation programs and events
  • Transplants desert vegetation as needed
  • Installs trail amenities, benches, and signage
  • Utilizes and maintains hand tools; including power tools
  • Assists with implementation of recreation programs and events
  • Hikes up to 15 miles in one day
  • Janitorial responsibilities at trailhead restrooms
Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
  • Over three years experience in trail maintenance, outdoor recreation programming, and or related field.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, a 50 pound lift test, and an audiogram
  • Valid Arizona driver license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
  • Arizona Certified Pesticide Applicator (or must obtain within 6 months)
