Position Description

The Town of Marana is seeking a Parks and Recreation Lead Maintenance Associate to work in the Parks and Recreation Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in leading operators, inmates and work activities in the maintenance and repair of the Towns infrastructure.

Work schedule:(4 - 10 hour shifts)

Expected Hiring Range: $19.12 - $23.42
Salary Range: $19.12 - $27.73

  • placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget
Examples of Duties

  • Leads assigned staff and/or inmate crews; provides service to internal and external customers.
  • Tracks and manages work orders, work flow, materials and supplies.
  • Performs routine skilled maintenance and/or landscaping tasks; inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems.
  • Performs work duties and operates a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Call, clear and document Blue Stake.
Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
  • Over three years experience in commercial or residential landscaping, commercial/custodial manual labor, or closely related field.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, 50 pound lift test and audiogram
  • Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check
  • Ability to pass the Arizona Department of Corrections background
  • Obtain inmate certification post-hire through the Department of Corrections in order to supervise inmates (provided by the Town post hire)
  • Must obtain one certification of the following within 9 months: Certified Arborist, AFO Arizona Certified Pesticide Applicator or Arizona Certified Pesticide Applicator
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
