POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision and direction of the Clinical Nurse and according to established procedures, provide routine service duties, technical and nursing procedures necessary to provide for care, comfort and safety of patients. Performs tasks, assists patients with personal hygiene and meals and ambulates patients according to specific procedures. Maintains patient and unit environment in a clean and orderly condition. Utilizes basic knowledge of age related differences in delivering patient care.

In adult units, care for patients age14108 years: 8M, 6M, 5M, SNF, Rehab, Women's Surgical Unit, ICU

In Day Surgery, Operative Services, Emergency Department, and Post-Anesthesia Care Newborn to 108 years

In Neonatal Intensive Care Neonates of premature age to 6 months

In Family Birth Center Babies of age birth to 1 week

In Endoscopy - Adolescent-108 years

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Approximately six months on the job experience is preferred, in order to gain knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures and techniques, and to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of unit procedures and schedules.

New recipients of Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) certification will be considered.

3. Current Nurses Aide Certification required.

OR

Texas Department of Health Bureau of Long Term Care standards and pending successful completion of the examination process.

OR

Evidence of completion of nursing training in a foreign country and work history as a licensed nurse in a foreign country may be substituted for nurse aide certification.

4. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required
