Position Description
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions
Answers telephone as a primary agent. Accurately delegates messages to nurses, doctors and other staff.
Schedules new, follow-up or discharged patient appointments. Obtains, verifies and enters all information into the Electronic Medical Record prior to patient visit.
Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patient visit.
Obtains referral through insurance company if required.
Check in patients and collect co-pay, co-insurance, deductible or payment on account as required.
Manage BUMP/DNKA lists and reschedule patients.
Prepares charts and fee sheets for next two clinic days.
Cash Box management, reconciliation of boxes.

Required Qualifications
A High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
