Position Description
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions

• Cross training in the different pods to register patients and verify eligibility.
• Verifies and updates Medicaid/Medicare/Insurance information through TMHP and insurance websites, for eligibility and benefits while maintaining patients files accurately.
• Pre-Certification and/or authorization for all procedures and office visits. Serve as liaison to third party payers to provide information on pending services in order to avoid denials.
• Answers incoming requests from patients, and staff regarding eligibility and covered benefits.
• Collects patient payments for services rendered prior to patient being seen. Generates reconciliation report and turns in report and monies to Sr. PSS at end of work shift.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor; to include staffing in all PSS areas as needed.
• Complete institutional trainings within established guide lines.

Position Specific:

• Demonstrates good grammatical skills, ability to read and interpret documents, Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, basic knowledge of Medical terminology, ability to use computer software. Ability to prioritize.

Required Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
