Salary: $2,346.40 Bi-Weekly

Job Description:

PAYROLL MANAGER: Under the direction of the Senior Human Resource Manager, this position is responsible for all facets of the Payroll Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance and a minimum of three (3) years of payroll experience; or any combination of education and experience to equal seven (7) years. Which directly reflects background in the areas described under duties including (1) year of demonstrated supervisory experience.

Background in accounting or financial procedures is required. Must demonstrate experience in computerized payroll processing.

Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices, departmental functions, and procedures.

Must possess skills to operate in a computerized accounting environment.

Must be able to plan workload to meet deadlines.

Must possess skills to operate in a computerized accounting environment, which includes knowledge of spreadsheet applications.

Must be able to work with figures and/or reports requiring much concentration and accuracy.

Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to deal effectively with public agencies and governmental officials in order to access services as needed.

Must be able to follow and carry out written and oral instructions quickly and accurately.

Ability to establish an effective working relationship with staff and with the public.

JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is a professional position, which requires organizational, and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact, and diplomacy in contacts with YDI employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulations concerning confidentiality.

Background investigation to include fingerprinting will be required. A physical is required post offer and may be required periodically.

Travel is required by employee. Must have valid drivers license and proof of satisfactory car insurance.

Youth Development, Inc. is an at-will employer. Employment is by mutual consent of the company and employee, and either may terminate the relationship at any time with or without cause or advance notice. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Inclusive):

  • Provides supervision and direction to the Payroll Supervisor/Assistant.
  • Maintains employee payroll database insuring information on each employee is current and correct.
  • Reviews employee timecards for completeness and accuracy, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepares relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
  • Utilizes computer-generated spreadsheets to prepare, calculate, and present employer unemployment tax, workers compensation, and employee benefits requirements for payment.
  • Prepares journal entries to be utilized in updating all accounts associated with the payroll function.
  • Maintains payroll history files and makes employee direct deposits as required.
  • Initiates payment vouchers as required.
  • Prepares journal entries and posts transactions to computerized accounting ledgers.
  • Ensures valid source documents accompany authorized payment vouchers.
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Other duties as assigned.
