Payroll Specialist
Department: Administration

Salary: $30.35 Hourly

Summary:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • AA degree in business administration plus four (4) years experience working in payroll processing and operations; or any combination of education and payroll production experience equal to six (6) years.
  • Must have strong computer skills and good public relations skills including the ability to deal effectively with vendors, public agencies and governmental officials to complete job duties.
  • Must be able to follow and carry out written and oral instructions quickly and accurately.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in a professional, effective manner

Job Characteristics/Physical Demands:

  • This is a professional position, which requires organizational, analytical and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact and diplomacy in contacts with all YDI, Inc. employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulations concerning confidentiality. Background investigation to include fingerprinting will be required. Proof of satisfactory car insurance is required.

Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities (Not Inclusive):
  • Maintains all files for payroll files for safe and permanent keeping.
  • Reviews employee timecards for completeness and accuracy, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepares journal entries to be utilized in updating all accounts associated with the payroll function.
  • Utilizes computer-generated spreadsheets to prepare, calculate, and present employer unemployment tax, workers compensation, and employee benefits requirements for payment.
  • Maintain employee payroll database insuring information on each employee is current and correct.
  • Distributes paychecks and maintains payroll history files.
  • Monitors payroll bank account balance and makes deposits as necessary.
  • Types routine correspondence, memoranda, reports, records, and other office documents.
  • Will perform general and routine clerical work, including preparing written materials, alphabetical filing, copying data from one document to another, counting objects, or performing similar arithmetic calculations, providing employees with routine and general information, i.e., leave balance information, payroll deductions and timesheet login information and processes.
  • Schedules appointments and provides necessary information to callers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
