    Job Summary:

    With an overall focus on maximizing academic achievement for all students, the Assistant Principal is responsible for supporting the quality of instruction and creating, maintaining and developing school climate the school as well as enacting all disciplinary and attendance procedures promptly, appropriately and equitably. This position reports to the Elementary School Principal.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    K-12 Responsibilities:

    - Collaborates with level principals to develop, implement and monitor the K-12 Unified Improvement Plan, Strategic plan and KPI goals, including writing required reports

    - Works to ensure effective curricular articulation from elementary to middle school, and from middle school to high school

    - Assists with K-12 crisis management and ensures that safety protocols are followed

    - Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Service Council, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Total Instructional Leadership Team (TILT) and other committees as assigned

    - Assists principals with professional development to facilitate collaboration and cohesion across the K-12 school levels

    - Attends and supervises K-12 events and functions throughout the year

    - Reports to the district and state as appropriate and required, and ensures that Peak to Peak meets all BVSD, state and federal guidelines and regulations for school-wide discipline


    K-5 Responsibilities:

    - Serves as a member of Elementary School Leadership Team and other committees as assigned by principal

    - Supervises operations in the Elementary Principals absence

    - Supervises elementary school recess and lunches on a daily basis

    - Assists in the development and support of K-5 school schedule, classroom paraprofessional support schedule, and additional curricular schedules which address school-wide goals and supervision

    - Supervises, trains, monitors and evaluates the paraprofessional instructional staff

    - Oversees, monitors and supports the BAASC program, including supervision and evaluation of the BAASC Manager

    - Monitors daily classroom instruction for quality teaching and student achievement

    - Contribute to and participates in the MTSS process, MTSS meetings and Student Support Teams (SSTs)

    - Collects and provides data for student progress monitoring

    - Attends IEP reviews and scheduled meetings as directed by principal

    - Coordinates 504 plans including overseeing accommodations, maintaining plans and conducting meetings

    - Administers K-5 student discipline as necessary, and works with the middle and high school principals with any student discipline as needed

    - Works with students, parents and staff to assist students in conforming to Peak to Peak behavior standards

    - Monitors K-5 attendance, and works with the principal and attendance secretary to create student attendance contracts as needed

    - Collects, tracks and maintains confidential records regarding student behavior, including personal discipline files

    - Communicates and conducts conferences on student and school issues with parents/guardians, students, and teachers in coordination with the Principal

    - Ensures that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods

    - In cooperation with the counselor and Character Education team, helps develop and implement the character education and bullying prevention programs in the K-5 setting

    - Coordinates parent/guardian education nights

    - Creates and implements climate and/or equity goals for K-12 school

    - Assists with student climate interviews and surveys

    - In collaboration with the Director of Professional Development, assists the Principal in determining and implementing appropriate staff development

    - Facilitates level staff meetings as directed by principal

    - Conducts formal and informal observations and evaluations of K-5 staff as assigned by principal

    - Supports development of innovative instructional skills through modeling, peer coaching and staff development

    - Participates in the development and evaluation of K-5 curriculum

    - Participates in the planning and alignment of the elementary school budget with the K-12 budget

    - Assists Elementary Principal with K-5 hiring activities as assigned

    - Aids in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Unified Improvement Plan, Strategic Plan and KPI goals including writing and presenting required reports

    - Collaborates on state and district testing requirements; assists in analysis of data

    - Assists with open enrollment and attends school open enrollment events

    - Supervises and attends school events and functions throughout the year

    - Other duties as assigned


    Salary:
    $70.000 - $100,000 a year

    -TIME OFF COMPENSATION: As a 1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employee you are provided with 10 days of Paid Annual Leave Time. If your position is less than 1.0 FTE, your leave time will be pro-rated accordingly based on your FTE.
