Job Description

Location: Nevada, Rural Douglas and Mineral County


PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Responsible for providing supervision and lead of mentoring and peer support services for children, adolescents, and/or adults with Substance Use Disorders and/or behavioral disorders. The goal is to assist the client in pursing their social, medical, educational, health and wellness journey. Services are provided in a mentoring setting with a person-centered, family-centered, recovery-oriented approach to care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. GED/High School Degree preferred
  2. Minimum of 1 year experience as a Peer Supporter
  3. Peer Certification
  4. Personal history as a consumer of mental health and/or substance use disorder services

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Provide direction and guidance to peer supporters and/or community health workers.
  2. Provide individualize health coaching to individuals in obtaining their own objectives;
  3. Co-facilitate groups/classes to support improved outcomes for individuals;
  4. Teach others about managing their mental and physical health;
  5. Supports individuals in learning how to make good choices for themselves;
  6. Work closely with others in community to engage clients in appropriate services and resources to assist in a healthy lifestyle, vocational needs, and education;
  7. Promote client engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, and compliance with healthcare system; and
  8. Document and schedule for appropriate tracking.

  1. Person-centered, family-centered, trauma-informed, relationship-focused, and recovery-oriented care;
  2. The ability to recognize your own limitations and respond to difficult situations;
  3. Good communication skills;
  4. Display enthusiasm, respect and flexibility in the mentoring model;
  5. The ability to collaborate with colleagues and community partners from other disciplines;
  6. The ability to adhere to all privacy and confidentiality policies; and
  7. The ability to use electronic media.

CONTINUOUS EDUCATION

Employee will be expected to participate in continuous learning, competency building and maintenance of competency skills.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in structured environments.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Reports to and is supervised directly by the Program Supervisor. Employee is also accountable for understanding and complying with CPLC policies and procedures.
