DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Pest Control Technician performs skilled, specialized work involving the use of fumigants and pesticides.
Incumbent will position, trap, and exterminate insects, vermin, and rodents in public housing units and kill weeds
and nuisance vegetation in surrounding grounds areas. The Pest Control Technician is responsible for establishing
and maintaining effective periodic inspections and treatment schedules for premises and properties owned or
managed through the Department of Community Housing of the Gila River Indian Community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Establish and maintain a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly pest control treatment schedule; apply
preventive pest control treatments.Inspect all public housing units and surrounding grounds for evidence of weed or pest infestation; apply
appropriate extermination measures.Execute work assignments in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, department regulations and
standards of safety appropriate to the pest control trade.Maintain sprayer and other equipment in good functioning and operating condition; perform daily routine
maintenance on assigned tools, equipment and vehicles.Maintain record of material safety data sheets, manuals, and reports.Maintain certification in the following categories; industrial, structural, institutional, and health related pest
control.Maintain licensing by attending yearly class updates on pest control.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:Thorough knowledge of a variety of pesticides, fumigants, poisons and other toxic materials and their use in
the control of insects, rodents, vermin and weed infestations.Thorough knowledge of EPA, OSHA, State and local laws and regulations pertaining to pest control treatment
and prevention.Thorough knowledge of the equipment and techniques used in weed and pest control.Skill in effective and safe use of pest control materials and chemicals.Ability to understand and follow routine, written, and verbal instructions.Ability to work independently.Ability to maintain accurate work records and prepare clear, concise reports of work activities.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community officials,
and the general public.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years7 work experience in pest or vector control and
applying pest control chemicals to exterminate insects, rodents and eradicate weeds..ADDITIONAL RE ZUIREMENTS:Structural Pest Control Commission Applicator License or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire date.Required to obtain a Tribal Driving permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving record
for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be
submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
