HOURS: 32 hours/week

STARTING SALARY: Based on experience

Salary range: $58.03/hr - $68.27/hr

POSITION SUMMARY: Engages in all aspects of Pharmaceutical Care, including reviewing and interpreting prescriptions, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities, prescription dispensing, maintaining records, counseling consumers. Review drug therapies according to professional standards and state and federal legal requirements. Provide medication information to patients, staff, and other health professionals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review prescriptions for drug interactions, incompatibilities, and accuracy.
  • Consult with providers as necessary to clarify prescriptions.
  • Review consumer profiles for potential drug interactions, duplicate therapy and appropriate dosages.
  • Direct pharmacy technicians engaged in counting, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Answer questions and provide information to pharmacy consumers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Keep informed of all local, state and federal laws covering the storage, handling and dispensing of drugs and for interpreting each prescription order to determine that it meets all legal requirements.
  • Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Enter data, such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Follow the professional code of ethics for pharmacists.
  • Provide drug information to WellPower staff and other health care professionals upon request.
  • Maintain records as required by Colorado Board of Pharmacy and federal regulations.
  • Administer immunizations per WellPower protocol.
  • Provide Medication Therapy Management (MTM) per protocol.
  • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
  • Perform other related duties as requested/required.

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharmacy Doctorate. Valid Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing.

  • EXPERIENCE:
  • 1-2 years of experience as licensed pharmacist preferred.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds preferred.
  • Experience working on diverse teams preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices.
  • Solid customer relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to flex communication styles to multiple cultural environments.
  • Must have good organizational and both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Immunization certification and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) certification.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Pharmacist-in-charge, in absence of pharmacy manager. No direct supervisory responsibilities.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers, Parata Max, calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone, and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: May require occasional evening or weekend hours.
