Pharmacy Technician-In-Training

JOB SUMMARY: Pharmacy Technician-in-Training assists in drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management within a variety of pharmacy environments. This entry-level position participates in and completes Avera Healths Pharmacy Technician Education Program within 10 months of hire in order to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Upon completion of the education program and successful Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination, the technician-in-training will be promoted into the role of Pharmacy Technician. Avera Healths Pharmacy Technician Education Program consists of 400 hours of combined didactic, simulation, and experiential learning activities. Avera Health requires a two-year employment commitment upon completion of the Pharmacy Technician Education Program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Through PCTB
  
  CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
• Registration with the state Board of Pharmacy required within 30 days of employment.
• PTCB certification within 1 year of employment.
• Completion of the Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse courses for Iowa Mandatory Reporters within 90 days of employment and every 3 years thereafter.
