About this opportunity:

Albion Healthcare Staffing is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to work at the Kendall, FL area. The Technician will follow well-defined instructions utilizing necessary skills to prepare and distribute medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. These duties include but are not limited to: filling and labeling medications, refilling Pyxis, delivering medications to Patient Care Areas, preparing IV admixture solutions, answering the telephone and directing the call to the appropriate staff. Maintaining medication stock levels, maintaining proper storage of medications to ensure safe and cost effective pharmaceutical services.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs Automated Dispensing Equipment responsibilities(including if applicable, Controlled Substances cabinet, Carousel, packager, refrigerated cabinet) accurately and timely according to policies and procedures to ensure correct medication and quantity is available for administration to the patient.
  • Accurately and timely delivery or return of medications according to the policies and procedures. This include but not limited to physical delivery, usage of the pneumatic tube system to the patient care units as requested by the pharmacist.
  • Process patient specific medication according to policies and procedures. This include accurate removal of discontinued medication and credit to patient account for medication not used if applicable.
  • Fills accurately and timely pharmacy requisitions from other departments according to policies and procedures, new orders, prescriptions, trays and kits if applicable under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Perform sterile product preparations as per entity policies and procedures, following USP 797 standards under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Perform inventory management functions effectively including communication to the buyer of any medication below par level, to ensure adequate stock levels. Routinely checks and document expiration dates as defined by policy. Performs accurately basic prepacking functions and documentation as defined by entity policies and procedures.
  • Answers the telephone, identifying self by name and title, triage and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
  • As appropriate timely completes monthly and daily assignments and documents completion.
  • Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff. Demonstrates good oral and written communication. Works cooperatively with all staff. Voices concerns and suggestions to appropriate persons in a positive manner.
  • Maintains a neat, professional, well-groomed appearance. Observes pharmacy dress code. Wears identification badge at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • HS High School,Cert,GED,Trn,Exper
  • RPT Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Hospital experience preferred which may include internship training hours. Maintains PTCB or ICPT Certification, or Florida Pharmacy Intern License or Pharmacist licensed outside of Florida is preferred.
  • Minimum required experience: Less than a 1 year
