Essential Functions

  • Evaluate physician's referrals and residents' medical records, shaping dynamic Physical Therapy programs.
  • Engage with residents, utilizing innovative evaluation techniques to create personalized treatment plans.
  • Administer prescribed Physical Therapy programs, employing diverse therapeutic modalities for optimal function and disability prevention.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, and Nursing departments to coordinate services.
  • Maintain precise documentation, continuously reassessing and refining treatment programs as needed.
  • Communicate the philosophy and goals of Physical Therapy passionately to residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervise and inspire Physical Therapy Assistants, ensuring optimal productivity.
  • Develop the skills of our physical therapy staff through engaging in-service training programs.
  • Embrace and adhere to the facility's mission, vision, and policies while prioritizing resident care.
  • Leverage technology to its full potential, enhancing client care through innovative documentation.
  • Safeguard healthcare organization value by maintaining confidentiality and cautioning against potential breaches.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy school with a valid state license.
  • Preferably, one year of experience in acute care, long-term care, or rehabilitation.
  • Proficient in teaching and actively seeking ways to assist and engage others.
  • Strong ability to communicate and adapt to various residents and personalities.
  • Demonstrates full attention, understanding, and effective communication skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, excelling in multitasking, prioritization, and meeting deadlines.
  • Possesses excellent observation, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and basic math skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a keen focus on customer service.
  • Proficient use of computers and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The various responsibilities for a Physical Therapist are often physically demanding and require that therapists be in good physical condition.

  • Engage in visually acuity activities, such as data analysis and computer operation.
  • Frequent communication with residents, staff, management, and clients in a professional manner.
  • Navigate various physical demands, including walking, standing, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Independently execute max assist resident transfers (75% employee, 25% resident) and position residents, supplies, and equipment.
  • Demonstrate sufficient visual acuity and hearing for performing required therapy skills.
  • Embrace the challenge of heavy work, occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force and frequently up to 50 pounds, with constant exertion of up to 20 pounds to move objects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited school for Physical Therapy and a valid registered license for the state in which employed.
  • Acute care, long-term care and/or rehabilitation experience of at least one year, preferred.
  • Ability to successfully teach others how to do something
  • Actively look for ways to help people.
  • Ability to communicate and adapt to different residents and personalities
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and basic math skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with strong focus on customer service.
  • Proficient use of computers and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The various responsibilities for a Physical Therapist are often physically demanding and require that therapists be in good physical condition.

  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, may include extensive reading and frequently operates a computer.
  • Frequently communicates with residents, staff, management, and clients. Must be able to professionally exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged or considerable walking, standing, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, bending, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Must be able to complete a max assist resident transfer (75% employee, 25% resident) independently.
  • Must be able to otherwise position or transfer residents as well as supplies and equipment.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity and hearing to perform required therapy skills.
  • Heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
