Overview

A Postdoctoral Fellow-Clinical position is currently available in Dr. Kent Kiehls laboratory at The Mind Research Network and the Department of Psychology at the University of New Mexico (open until filled). The position is located in Albuquerque, NM.

The coordinator will work with a research team on several grant-funded studies designed to evaluate neurobehavioral characteristics of criminal offenders with antisocial (e.g., psychopathic, paraphilic) traits, long-term outcomes (e.g., after release from incarceration), and effects of treatment (e.g. mindfulness meditation, relapse prevention). Primary responsibilities include conducting clinical assessments (e.g., SCID, WASI, DKEFS) with incarcerated offenders, training research staff, students, and volunteers on clinical assessments (e.g., educational presentations, hands-on training and supervision, developing SOPs for clinical assessment administration and scoring), and oversight of all clinical assessments across research projects to ensure reliability and fidelity (e.g., reviewing videotaped interviews, independent double rating of assessments). Will also assist with the development and administration of novel clinical assessments, such as those designed to evaluate lifetime traumatic experiences. Will oversee data entry, database storage, and overall organization and management of clinical data. The majority of time will be spent conducting clinical assessments in corrections facilities.

This opportunity includes access to the worlds largest multimodal forensic database including clinical assessment data, structural and functional MRI, and genetics on over 4000 offenders. Multiple research opportunities are available, including writing and/or assisting with research grant proposals, conducting independent research projects, analysis of existing data and preparation of manuscripts for dissemination of research (topics flexible). Pay will be commensurate with experience

Qualifications

Requires a Ph.D. or M.D. in a directly related field, and a proven record of peer-reviewed publications including demonstrated first-authorship success in applicable research areasand 2 years experience.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated effectiveness and experience working as part of a large research team, as well as success performing independent research projects of varying scope. This position requires superior professional-level verbal and written communication skills which are required to effectively perform in the role, as well as excellent judgment, and problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology or related field is required. Applicants must have expertise in administering clinical assessments, experience or strong interest in working with incarcerated populations, and preferably experience coordinating research projects. Must have a valid drivers license and be able to pass a background check.
