Pay Range

$13. 64 - $19.38/hr

The Pre-op Assessment Technician functions as an integral member of the Pre-op AssessmentDepartment to assist in the provision of quality care to patients presenting to PAT and works underthe direction of the RN. This position involves no delegation of tasks or supervision of other membersof the healthcare team. The PAT Tech will assume personal accountability for organizational mission,core, and SHARE values.Paramount to this role will be the need for excellent communication skills, as this position will be theprimary contact in public relations for this unit. The scope of responsibilities include: data collectionrelated to patient care, phlebotomy, obtaining vitals signs and EKGs, and frequent communicationwith various physician's offices via phone and fax; documenting this interaction in the medical record.In collaboration with the healthcare team, the Pre-op Assessment Technician coordinates the clericalfunctions and activities of the department, working closely with Central Scheduling to ensure the bestutilization of departmental human resources.The Pre-op Assessment Technician is responsible for the accurate transcription of physician's orders,while managing patient documentation systems. This employee demonstrates the ability to facilitatecommunication between healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and is sensitive to theneeds of patients, families, and fellow coworkers.

What You Bring/Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • HS Diploma/GED Preferred
  • Successful passing of written pre-assessment preferred
  • Completion of St. Mary-Corwin HUC orientation preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology symbols, and abbreviations, charting procedures-documentation, and computer skills including use of, TDS, Excel and Windows applications
  • Has knowledge of organizational chart/ relationships
  • BLS from the American Heart Association, Required
  • Emergency Medical Technician, Preferred

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
