Responsibilities

Coordinate and assist in planning, developing, and implementing program strategies. Evaluate prevention materials and methods, and remain current in prevention research and strategies. Provide direct information, develop materials and collaborate with a variety of audiences, including parents, community groups, the general public and public officials.

  • Provide group and individual information, education, training, consultation and referrals
  • Identify key individuals and groups in the community to recruit for program goals or for resources related to program goals
  • Research, develop and design a wide range of materials, such as educational curriculum, flyers, and news releases
Qualifications

Minimum

  • High school graduate equivalent
  • Minimum of six years community education experience
  • CPR Certification (including BLS Child, Infant, Adult)
  • Valid California drivers license and vehicle insurance; reliable transportation, to travel for meetings and/or to gather information for reporting purposes; minimum two years driving experience; no more than 2 violations or a single ticket/accident value at more than 1 point on driving record
  • For North County Prevention Coalition assignment: program specifically requires minimum one year prevention services experience to include one or more prevention campaigns requiring knowledge of: the underlying principles of the public health perception of alcohol, tobacco and/or other drug problems; knowledge of the underlying principles and application of environmental strategies that advance policy-based prevention approaches to reduce alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drug problems; and competency to translate community-based planning objectives to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems into action plans using environmentally-focused strategies with specific policy goals.

  • Required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to present information accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing to individuals and groups
  • Ability to interact with all VCC personnel and the public in a professional manner
  • Ability to track and manage time effectivelyAbility and willingness to meet the organizations attendance and dress code policies
  • Ability to handle confidential materials and information in a professional mannerEffective verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, clinicians and other staff
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a professional manner, including people of all social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and within the constraints of government funded programs
  • Excellent customer service skills and commitment to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction
  • Experience/familiarity with computers, business e-mail, communication systems and internet search capabilities; proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel

Pay Range

$20.50 - $22.00
