Job Description
This Principal Engineer - Dialysis Delivery Systems resource for CVS Kidney Care will play a critical role in supporting the HemoCare system, but more specifically the disposables and consumables necessary in delivering dialysis therapy. This position will be recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in components such as, filters & membranes, plastics, and concentrates (such as acids and bicarbonates). The ideal candidate will have detailed technical knowledge of the materials and manufacturing technologies used to produce the products comprised of the components listed above. This resource will work in close collaboration with our design partners to ensure that we deliver the highest performing, most cost-effective, home hemodialysis system to our customers. This role will also support the development of field service training materials, as well as, the establishment of our supply chain.

This individual will be responsible for ensuring our customer needs are met on a timely basis and emergencies are responded to as quickly and efficiently as possible. This positions primary responsibility is the development of customer friendly sampling kits (water & dialysate) and their seamless integration with the dialysis system hardware and User Interface instructions, followed by ongoing product support activities related to the sampling kits and all other Disposables & Consumables related to the quality and delivery of the therapy. Key responsibilities are below.

- Development/Integration of a back-up power supply system
- Supports the development of a Field Service Manual and Technical Service training materials
- Works with the Engineering Team to track performance and reliability data of the dialysis treatment system
- Supports the creation of the appropriate spare parts inventory, trunk kits, and other equipment for the purposes of maintaining the dialysis treatment system at peak performance
- Supports the development of internal Quality procedures for the Technical Service team
- Oversees and supports Complaint Trending and the corresponding CAPA investigations and resolutions related to the Dialysis Treatment System
- Take the lead on identifying/prioritizing both design & process improvement opportunities related to the dialysis treatment system
- Supports device related activities pertaining to the ongoing Clinical Trial and beyond
- Provide cost analysis and classification of both scheduled and unscheduled Service events related to the maintenance of the dialysis treatment device
- Work closely and collaboratively with our design partners to ensure optimal Design for Manufacturability and Serviceability of the dialysis treatment device

Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of Medical Device experience in Product Development and Lifecycle Management.
- Willingness and ability to travel 25%.
- This is a fully remote role.

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of direct experience in dialysis or blood purification consumables &/or disposables
- Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred
- Application of Lean principles in Technical Service environment
- Development of water and dialysate sampling kits
- Supports the development of a Field Service Manual, Technical Service training materials and device User Interface workflow along with customer Instructions for Use as they relate to water and dialysate sampling
- Works with the Technical Engineering Team to track performance and cost of all Disposables & Consumables associated with the delivery of therapy
- Supports the creation of the appropriate Disposable & Consumables inventory along with Tech Service Trunk Kits
- Supports the development of internal Quality procedures for the Technical Service team
- Oversees and supports Complaint Trending and the corresponding CAPA investigations and resolutions related to the performance of all Disposables & Consumables associated with conducting the dialysis therapy
- Take the lead on identifying improvement opportunities related to the production, integration, and servicing of Disposables & Consumables
- Supports the ongoing clinical study and commercial launch of the HemoCare dialysis system
- Provide cost analysis and classification of both scheduled and unscheduled Service events related to the consumption of both Disposables & Consumables
- Work closely and collaboratively with our design partners to ensure optimal Design for Manufacturability and Serviceability of all Disposables & Consumables
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Knowledge of DMAIC and Root Cause Analysis
- Ability to apply meaningful metrics and quantify key improvement markers

Education
Bachelors Degree required.
Advanced Degree in Engineering or Science preferred.
