Job Description
This Principal Engineer - Water Systems resource for CVS Kidney Care will play a critical role in supporting the HemoCare system, but more specifically the Water System that generates product water for the purposes of making ultrapure dialysate, as well as, disinfecting and rinsing the entire system. This position will be recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in the hardware used in water filtration and water distillation systems. The ideal candidate will have detailed technical knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, a variety of pumps and pumping methods, as well as two and three-way valve technology. This resource will work in close collaboration with our design partners to ensure successful integration of the water system(s) with our treatment delivery device. This role will also support the development of Field Service training materials, as well as, the establishment of our supply chain.

This individual will also be responsible for ensuring all customer needs are met on a timely basis and emergencies are responded to as quickly and efficiently as possible. This positions primary responsibility is the seamless integration of selected or designed water purification systems with our treatment delivery device. Key responsibilities are below.

- Development/Integration of a water filtration system
- Supports the development of a Field Service manual, Technical Service training materials
- Works with the Technical Engineering Team to track performance and reliability data of the integrated water system
- Supports the creation of the appropriate spare parts inventory, trunk kits, and other equipment for the purposes of maintaining peak performance in the integrated water system
- Supports the development of internal Quality procedures for the Technical Service team
- Becoming an expert in water purification for dialysis
- Take the lead on identifying improvement opportunities related to water purification for dialysis
- Supports the ongoing Clinical Trial and the future improvement of existing water purification methods
- Provide cost analysis and classification of both scheduled and unscheduled Service events related to the water purification system
- Work closely and collaboratively with our design partners to ensure seamless integration of the water system

Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of Medical Device experience in Product Development and Lifecycle Management.
- Willingness and ability to travel 25%.

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of direct experience in dialysis or blood purification consumables &/or disposables
- Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred
- Application of Lean principles in Technical Service environment
- Ability to create CAD drawings &/or read Mechanical Prints, as well as flow-path and electrical schematics
- In depth knowledge of Fluid Dynamics and Electromechanical Systems
- Understanding and troubleshooting of basic hydraulics
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Knowledge of DMAIC and Root Cause Analysis
- Ability to apply meaningful metrics and quantify key improvement markers
- Ability to create and deliver presentations to key stakeholders that effectively communicate key findings, and summarize insights and implications to communication strategies

Education
Bachelors Degree required.
Advanced Degree in Engineering or Science preferred.
