The Emergency Department at St. Thomas More consists of 13 ED beds, three behavioral Health rooms and five fast tracks. The Emergency Department handles acute and subacute issues. We are a Level IV trauma center but are rural and critical access. We're located in a tourist area with many outdoor activities, so trauma is a big part of our care and we have a broad case mix. We see everything from major traumas, STEMIs, and strokes to minor cases of viral illness and well-child checks. We are proficient in EMTALA laws with ourstabilization and transfer experience of acutely emergent patients. We see neonates to geriatrics and even treat an inmate population. Occasionally, we need to board a patient. Our culture, teamwork and team dynamics are unlike any other. We have a great relationship with our associates and physicians. Job Description:

Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient. Promotes the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.

Pay Range

$28.85 - $40.62/hr

What You Bring/Job Requirements

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact,
    • Colorado Only:
      RNs working in Colorado under a multi-state license must obtain their CO RN license within 30 days of establishing residency, i.e., drivers license, register to vote, etc. Compact to Compact. Upon issuance of a new multistate license, the former license is inactivated. For more information visit Colorado Board of Nursing - Compact Licensure
  • Nursing Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RN's
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association required
  • TNCC required upon hire or within 12 months
  • PALS or ENPC required upon hire or within 12 months
  • One year RN experience required
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Variable hours and shifts required-

1800-0600, 0600-1800, 1030-2300, 1200-0000

9 shifts (combination of scheduled shifts and availability) in 6 weeks
