Carpenter Americas has an immediate opening for a Production Operator on 3d Shift at our Rochester Hills, MI manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for manufacturing foam products through the process of injection molding.

Carpenter Americas employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the successful candidate, you will be expected to manufacture products utilizing primary and secondary processing equipment or hand assembly. Following all procedures and work instructions, achieve optimal productivity, quality, and safety assuring internal and external customer satisfaction.

Your additional responsibilities as a Production Operator will include:

  • Operate molding press/equipment per company procedures.
  • Review job standards before running production.
  • Assure product meets established quality criteria of zero non-conformances.
  • Correctly record scrap every hour per work instructions.
  • Correct application of all internal and external labels when requires, including removal of all old labels from returnable packaging.
  • Correct application of lot control numbers.
  • Review daily of all applicable quality alerts.
  • Immediately notify Production Supervisor of all discrepancies to established quality checks or any condition identified to be out of the normal operating condition.
  • Communicate production and quality issues/concerns with associates during staff meetings.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas.
  • Participate in team problem solving activities (communication meetings, shift meetings, etc.,) and continuous improvement activities.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety and environmental procedures.
  • Wear required PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, close toed shoes/boots with rubber sole base).
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.

Skills and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Some manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Injection molding experience preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.
  • Ability to stand/walk up to at least 8 hours a day required.
  • Ability to lift and/maneuver up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • On the job training is provided.

Pay: starting at $19/hour plus $2/hour shift premium

Shift Hours: Sunday-Thursday 10pm-6am. Overtime may be required.
