Status:            Non-Exempt, FT

The Salvation Army is looking to fill a Program Assistant position in the Family Services division. The successful candidate will be a self motivated and self directed person with strong verbal and written communication skills.

The Program Assistant for Operation Home will screen potential clients via phone or online application to determine if they are program eligible. They will request necessary documents from potential clients and facilitate referral of solid candidates to proper program staff. This position will enter and review client data in the Community Management Information System (CMIS) for accuracy. The Program Assistant will contact community resources and vendors for product pricing, equipment rental, legal information, and any other guidance that might help the client on their path to self-sufficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in Human Services or 1-3 years related work experience in a human services or similar field.
  • Able to productively work alone or with a team of case managers and support specialists that result in expected outcomes.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with accomplishing goals.
  • Experience working with agencies that serve vulnerable populations preferred.
  • Experience working with homeless and/or at-risk populations preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of staff and community partners.
  • Must have a valid Nevada Driver License, and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check. 
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
