Job Description:  

Responsible for supporting the Public Allies Arizona program operated by the Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation, with an emphasis on our Tucson sector operations. Public Allies is a national emerging leadership organization that serves 23 communities throughout the country. Our primary program is a 10-month long apprenticeship and leadership learning program for young adults, funded through AmeriCorps, and based on the values of collaboration, continuous learning, focus on assets, innovation and integrity. This position is located in Tucson with travel to Phoenix and other locations as needed. This position is grant funded and is scheduled to end December 31, 2025, with possibility of extension, based on funding and program needs.


Salary: $51,500 per year;DOE


Essential Duties:

  • Supports the Public Allies Arizona program in a variety of capacities critical to the mission. Responsibilities include:
  • Serve as direct coaching mentor indirectly supervising 15-20 apprentices allocated within each cohort. Responsibilities include hosting bi-weekly coaching sessions; facilitating site visits with the Allies and their direct supervisors; and monitoring the apprentice service and training hours, community service and team projects, as well as other Public Allies program activities.
  • Facilitate curriculum-themed Community Space Days that incorporate Public Allies Leadership Development Model components including mission and core values as well as elements of Public Allies Theory of Change and its essentials of Leadership Action.
  • Support other staff to secure and schedule outside speakers, presentations, workshops and on-site visits to enhance cohort learning experience, engagement and application.
  • Prepare and coordinate, in collaboration with other staff, cohort team-building retreats, alumni events, induction and graduation ceremonies, and national days of service including logistical aspects such as site procurement, transportation and lodging and program scheduling.
  • Find additional learning opportunities for the cohort or individual Allies. 
  • Maintain member files for compliance including accurate Time Logs, Monthly Service Reports, Remote Service Plans, and other appropriate hours documentation. 
  • Support the Alumni Council with continuous learning projects and social events. 
  • Assist with recruitment of Allies by managing the matching process and attending tabling and recruitment events.
  • Travel between Tucson and Phoenix as need for program events and trainings. 
  • Serve as a member of the Center’s overall team and maintain knowledge of Center’s programs and offerings to act as ambassador and champion in the community.


Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting
  • Use office equipment including a computer
  • Sit, stand for varying lengths of time, and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Lift up to 25 pounds
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Communicate to perform essential functions
  • Local travel to sites and events


Minimum Qualifications:        

Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the development and implementation of recruitment and retention strategies
  • Experience in National Service or a community service environment, diverse/multicultural environments, or nonprofit sector
  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills
