Job Description

Program Coordinator
Requisition ID req21790
Working Title Program Coordinator
Position Grade 10
Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

CDD is recruiting a Program Coordinator to support the work scope of the Project for NM Children and Youth who are Deaf-Blind within the Autism & Other Developmental Disabilities Division (AODD).

The Project for NM Children and Youth Who are Deaf-Blind is a federally and state funded program that provides consultation and training to service providers, educational teams, and families in NM through disseminating of best practice recommendations to facilitate improved educational outcomes for children who are deaf-blind. These programs are funded specifically to insure that this vulnerable population has access to the general education curriculum through highly specialized professionals. An annual Census of deaf blind students is required for each federally funded program; this information is transmitted to Congress and results are used for national and state planning for this low incidence population.

The Program Coordinator will plan and coordinate the day-to-day fiscal, administrative and operational activities of this project and will also serve as lead liaison with the Autism & Other Developmental Disabilities Division (AODD) to insure increased collaboration especially for those children suspected of sensory impairments and ASD.

In addition, the Program Coordinator will serve as a central point of contact for program staff, contractors, faculty, other departments, and/or external constituencies in the implementation of all program performance measures. Position may require occasional travel within NM with overnight stay and lifting up to 20 lbs.
