Job Description

Barrett, The Honors College is seeking a Program Manager for the Lorraine W. Frank Office of National Scholarship Advisement (ONSA). This position will be responsible for coordinating outreach for the office, generating diversity and inclusion programming, and providing individual and group student advising. The ideal candidate will be an outgoing academic professional who is committed to student development, enthusiastic about holistic advising and is particularly committed to serving under-represented student populations. 


Salary Range

$48,960 - $55,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

Works closely and collaboratively with students, faculty, and scholarship committees to provide information on national scholarships and assist students with award application processes.  Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and deliver a series of informational programming for first- and second-year students, with an emphasis on first-generation students, non-traditional students, students from underrepresented communities, and students with high financial need;
  • Develop and maintain institutional partnerships, including student organizations, academic departments, study abroad, career services, and development and alumni relations, among others, to advance the ONSA mission;
  • Individually advise students seeking general scholarship and fellowship information, as well as applicants for specific awards, as assigned;
  • Coach students on general professional development, including interview preparation, resume writing, and professional etiquette;
  • Advise and instruct students on the writing of grant proposals, research statements, personal statements, and other application materials;
  • Coordinate with internal and external units to promote ONSA in a variety of media.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of programming and curricula related to fellowships application preparation;
  • Assist with the oversight of the ONSA Ambassadors student outreach program;
  • Participate in College events (convocation, Family Weekend, Homecoming, etc.) and assist other units as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Evidence of a Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge with leading trends and best practices in diversity and inclusion efforts, student development theory, and writing instruction
  • Evidence of effective communication skills, including public speaking
  • Experience advising, mentoring or advocating for special student populations, including first-generation students, underrepresented students, and/or students with high financial need.
  • Experience with preparing and executing informational student programming and events
  • Experience in successful management of multiple concurrent projects to meet deadlines
  • Evidence of initiative, imagination, and entrepreneurial thinking


Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties.

Frank Office of National Scholarships Advisement (ONSA) is among the longest-running and well-developed national scholarship advising offices in the nation. The office helps Arizona State University Students compete for national and international scholarship and fellowship awards.
