Position Summary

The University Of New Mexico College Of Nursing's (CON) is seeking a goal-oriented, resourceful, and self-motivated Program Specialist. The Program Specialist will serve as to plan Objective Structured Clinical Examination. OSCE operational and administrative logistics (OSCEs), in concert with SIMS Faculty Director. The curriculum content portion of OSCEs is completed by CON Faculty.

Additional duties of the Program Specialist are to assist with administrative operations of the simulation centers and at the direction of the program manager move between Health Sciences Campus and Health Sciences Rio Rancho to address the educational needs of the students across all programs. The Program Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of equipment (high, medium and low fidelity mannequins), simulation software as well as supplies to run the sim center such as moulage, personal protective equipment and various lab supplies to ensure successful, safe and academically appropriate clinical education.

The following duties and responsibilities are anticipated:

  • Attend annual Education Management Solutions (EMS), the Simulation IQ manufacturer, out-of-state Summits; periodic local training and monthly webinars to stay informed on upgrades and education
  • Following two years of simulation experience, this position will work toward SIMS certification (Certified HealthCare Simulation Operation Specialist, CHSOS)
  • Flexibility of hours and travel are required
  • Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a health-related and/or academic environment.
  • Familiarity with medical and clinical care concepts and terminology
  • Experience with technologies hardware and software
