Job Description

The T. Denny Sanford Harmony Institute (harmonyinstitute.asu.edu) at Arizona State University is seeking a half-time Research Project Coordinator. We are looking for someone who has the skills and values to facilitate the important research efforts that involve the testing of innovative methods to promote positive development and strong caregiver-child relationships.


The Research Project Coordinator will work closely with the Institute’s research team members, contributing to the effective implementation and execution of the research. The work involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and executing project activities to ensure the timely and successful completion of the research project’s goals.


Salary Range

$21.58 - $29.81 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Contribute to planning for, implementing, and monitoring of research related to the testing of the usability and effectiveness of newly developed methods that promote children’s development and caregiver-child interactions
  • Facilitate the engagement of parents and children in research
  • Prepare research materials in collaboration with other research personnel as needed
  • Work with families and children to collect data
  • Assist with data management
  • Document timelines, progress, and outcomes of research
  • Attend research project meetings
  • Other responsibilities might include conducting literature reviews, helping incubate new ideas, and contributing to the presentation and dissemination of research findings
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Establish good communication with Institute faculty, staff, students, affiliates, and community members
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children and families
  • Experience with research methods in the family and developmental sciences
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Passion for applying your knowledge and experience to address important social issues related to children’s development.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working on a developmental or family-related research project preferred.
  • Preference for Master’s degree in any area related to child and family sciences (e.g., Family and Human Development, Psychology).
  • Experience with data software such as Excel, ACCESS, or SPSS preferred
