Job Description

We are seeking candidates who are compelled by the ASU Charter. They believe that innovation in higher education is possible when an institution places students at the center of their operations and strategy.

These positions works closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements; identifies and acquires necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with sponsoring source's expectations.

The ideal candidates must have a reputation for proactive and quick problem solving, ability to work both independently and in team settings, diplomacy, and an ability to focus on objectives in an environment where projects compete for priority. These candidates should be comfortable with handling multiple projects with project outcomes that relate to each other and to long-term goals of the university.


Salary Range

$68,000-$82,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Plans, develops, implements, and manages a project team through complete task definitions and work requirement identification and assignments
  • Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome(s).
  • Ability to utilize agile and waterfall methodologies where appropriate and recommend which method is best for a given project. Also determines how best to blend methodologies to manage unique projects and meet goals.
  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations with team; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness
  • Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.
  • Responds to all inquiries regarding project status; prepares and responds to all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance
  • Manages, coaches, and supervises all project team members both internal and contracted to ensure optimal outcomes; builds, develops, and maintains relationships vital to project success.
  • Works collaboratively with stakeholders, leadership, and other related staff to define and identify all required project infrastructure including, but not limited to: space, build/reconfiguration of facilities, equipment, technology and infrastructure to ensure timely availability for successful launch and ongoing project operations.
  • Prepares all post-project reports, budget allocations and summaries/filings to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.
  • Comfortable communicating with all members of a project including staff, management, and executive leadership.
  • Candidates should understand risks to project outcomes and show ability to manage the project to avoid or adapt to challenges to project plan.
  • Ability to quickly research topics in order to facilitate innovative projects that may be in new knowledge areas.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience; 1 of which are in project management, or any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Project Management certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional in Project Management (PPM), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or SAFe Agilist would be an asset.
  • Experience with teams working on distributed software systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Education domain knowledge especially in Higher Education processes is preferred.
  • Experience working with solutions in highly regulated industries (e.g., Healthcare, Finance).
