Major/Essential Functions
  • Develop, track, and maintain list of historical, current, and potential energy conservation and efficiency projects.
  • Provide engineering design, expertise, and knowledge for assigned projects.
  • Perform status reports and maintain direct communication of ongoing projects with department.
  • Process, record, and track all utility invoices and bills received by the department.
  • Create and submit state mandated energy reports.
  • Analyze and recommend utility/energy conservation initiatives, projects, etc. to administration for implementation.
  • Perform routine facility, equipment, and utility distribution audits for TTUHSC assets.
  • Review contract documents and provide recommendations for projects containing engineering components.
  • Manages resources for all assigned projects.
  • Maintain professional development credentials.
  • Review and provide recommendations for modifying outdated department policies, standards, or work practices.
  • Provide in-house project management services for the department for new facilities, renovation projects, adaptations and modernization, and liaison work on Capital Projects.
  • Responds to emergency calls during regular shifts, afterhours, weekends and holidays to correct or remediate the problem.
  • Perform duties of operator for monitoring of building automation controls systems.
  • Provide expertise to program sequence of operations (BACnet protocol) and troubleshoot controllers.
  • Perform computerized energy simulation of HSC facilities.
  • Establish and maintain all Engineer's reports which include submittals, correspondence, supplemental instructions, sketches, all correspondence between the architect, engineer, testing agency, and the contractor.
  • Compose and submit periodic status reports, and percentage completion reports, to include project conditions (i.e. trade manpower and work description), architectural and engineering communication and direction, general conditions and activities.
  • Assure that the Contractor is following all safety regulations and performing weekly safety meetings throughout the duration of the project. Assures that the construction activity poses no harm to existing building, students, staff and personnel.
  • Provides in-house plan review for Project Development and Construction for new facilities, renovation projects, adaptation and modernization projects.
  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.
  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEPs values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Drivers License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer registered Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering discipline from an EAC/ABET accredited university plus five (5) years related experience.
  • Previous experience in Energy Modeling and building automation controls.
