JOB SUMMARY
Delivers primary healthcare to patients; performs other work as required or assigned. This is an Advanced Working/Journey position, which works under general supervision. Positions at this level are assigned to perform the more complex and sensitive duties in the occupational field. The employee in this position may be assigned to train other employees and/or monitor the work produced by other employees. The employee performs diverse duties of an advanced and specialized nature. Judgment must be exercised in analyzing facts or circumstances surrounding issues. Work often requires development of recommendations and independent actions consistent with policies, general directives, and broad regulations. The decisions made affect the operations of the work unit and the organization. Discretion is required in the application of policies, procedures, and guidelines, and in selection of appropriate resources for use in accomplishing assigned work.
This position is not covered under the Pinal County Merit System. Incumbents in this position serve at the pleasure of their respective Appointing Authority. The employment relationship of incumbents in this position is "at will" the employee may be terminated at any time, for any reason, with or without cause. Incumbents in this position serve at the pleasure of their respective Appointing Authority.

Example of Duties

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation.
  • Input computer data and perform analysis and documentation.
  • Provide counseling for family planning and Well Woman program.
  • Implement, revise, and evaluate clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Educate staff on protocols, current clinical events, and presentations.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Delivers primary healthcare to patients (primarily womens health, STI testing and treatment).
Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Master's degree from a Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • One (1) year of nurse practitioner experience in public health programs.
  • State licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License.
  • Experience in Contraception Management, GYN Care, IUD/implant insertion/removals and STD knowledge.
Supplemental Information

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of policies, guidelines, and standards of the Arizona State Board of Nursing and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Knowledge of applicable Arizona Revised Statutes and County Ordinances regarding public health. Knowledge of Federal and state public health program regulations and requirements including Arizona Department of Health Services and Federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of regional public health protocols, communicable disease issues, and reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of regional community service agencies and other public assistance programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The work also requires the ability to finger, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, kneel, lift, speak, hear, stoop, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity.

Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires the ability to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
