Using advanced quantitative capabilities and statistically based modeling, the Quantitative Analysis Manager is responsible for leading the development and ongoing monitoring of various credit scoring models, loss forecasting capabilities, and portfolio analysis capabilities. This position also supports the overall analytical needs of the credit organization and the corporation.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains credit scorecards and credit analysis models for small business and commercial lines of business.
  • Collaborates with credit and line of business teams in the development and ongoing support of models and analyses.
  • Evaluates and includes in modeling and analyses, the changing dynamics of customers and markets.
  • Evaluates model and process performance and provides required updates and necessary documentation.
  • Assists in the evaluation and correcting of data issues, building out new data capture needs, and identifying and acquiring external data where needed.
  • Collaborates with model risk management, audit, and regulators on validations and reviews of quantitative models and analyses.
  • Completes annual E-Learning Plan and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training as assigned and keeps up-to-date knowledge of BSA as it relates to the job function.

Management Responsibilities

  • Works with department staff on individual professional development and career development opportunities. Facilitates team members in creating individual goals and development plans that align with the department goals.
  • Works with Heartland Financials Talent Acquisition team to identify and hire the most qualified and talented individuals to fill open positions.
  • Provides information and on-going feedback to department staff regarding expectations and performance, salary adjustments and/or promotions.
  • Addresses and resolves all performance concerns and issues in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and conducts annual performance reviews within established deadlines.
  • Role is responsible for working through matrix organization to achieve established goals and will long term directly manage quantitative analysts as roles are created based on need.


Qualifications

  • Masters Finance, Statistics required
  • Doctorate preferred
  • 10+ years of model development and analytics experience related to credit and/or financial services required
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics and application within models and analyses supporting credit decisioning and monitoring required
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals required
  • Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public required
  • Ability to solve problems, execute, and deliver on time multiple simultaneous projects under tight deadlines required
  • 5+ years managing a team required
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form required
  • Experience with different statistical software packages, Microsoft Suite and Word Processing software required
