UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Radiology Tech CT Simulator to join our UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. This is a Monday through Friday job with schedules from 6:00am-3pm, 7:00am-4:00pm or 8:00am-5:00pm located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There will also be weekend call shifts. The employee who fills this position will be required to attend a Radiation Therapy school which is approximately a one year program.

More About This Opportunity:
The selected individual will be required to apply to and ultimately attend Radiation Therapy School within one to two academic years from hire date. The radiation therapy program tuition will be paid by UNMCCC with a contract to work as a Radiation Therapist for three years after passing the board exam. If the individual fails or quits the radiation therapy school, the employee would reimburse UNMCCC all monies paid for school.
Note: This position is designed to prepare the CT Simulation Radiation Technologist for Radiation Therapy school (RTT program) and is not meant to be a position for continuous employment. The selected candidate must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or greater in order to be a viable candidate for Radiation Therapy school.
- Selection for this role does not guarantee acceptance to a Radiation Therapy program.
- If the employee is not accepted into the RTT program, they would not be able to maintain the position as Radiology Tech - CT Simulator.
- If the employee is accepted to the RTT program, employee will be required to take the Radiation Therapy Board exam no later than six months after and with no more than two attempts. After successful completion of the Radiation Therapy Board exam, employees job title will be reclassified as a Radiation Therapist.
Summary
Under general supervision, performs prescribed radiologic, ultrasound, and/or CT procedures requiring specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient population. May prepare and administer various chemical mixtures as appropriate to the nature of the procedures being carried out. May work in a research or clinical environment.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Radiology Tech CT Simulator:
American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Certification. State of NM RRT License. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. No experience required. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure will be required if selected for hire.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Radiology Tech - CT Simulator:
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Maintains stock supplies and assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase; performs general office duties such as delivering and retrieving film, recording procedure codes for billing purposes, typing forms, and scheduling patients.
- Prepares patient for radiographic, ultrasound, or CT Scan procedures as appropriate to requirements; explains procedures to patients and positions patients as appropriate to prescribed procedure; assists patients at end of procedure.
- Follows prescribed procedure in the administration of radiography, ultrasound, or CT scans; determines appropriate calibrations and/or techniques, arranges immobilization and/or support devices.
- Prepares written status reports and maintains records of work performed.
- Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment, and prepares medicine and materials as required; cleans and disinfects equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
