Who we are
Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing (SMS) is one of Americas top-five non-bank mortgage-servicing companies. What is mortgage servicing? Our clients are businesses that own mortgage loans (such as banks and real estate investment firms). On their behalf, we manage (or "service") their loan portfolios, which means that we collect homeowners mortgage payments, pay their tax and insurance bills, and help homeowners in default to get current.
Position Overview:
Review deficiency accounts to determine the collateral status and to determine the companys legal authority to collect deficiency balances by analyzing available data using internal and external sources, including but not limited to OnBase, Loan Sphere, Accurint, and public records
Duties & responsibilities:
- Review deficiency accounts to determine the collateral status.
- Review deficiency accounts to determine the companys legal authority to collect by analyzing available data within internal and external sources.
- Review various Legal Notices to determine if any actions are needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to resolve account level issues.
- Consistently represent the company in a professional manner
- Performs related duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, required.
Paralegal certificate preferred.
2-4 years experience in foreclosures and/or mortgage collections
Skills & abilities:
Strong research and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
Knowledge of foreclosure processes and collection laws and familiarity with legal documentation
Ability to work independently.
Strong analytical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally
Exceptional time management and organizational skills
Ability to achieve set goals, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
