Major/Essential Functions
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The recurrent staff employee extended title HSC Research Aide is assigned to the Emergency Medicine/Research Division to be working primarily on Clinical Trial Studies. Primary duties include (but are not limited to) recruiting ED patients for clinical trials, obtaining informed consent, recording study data, extracting data from medical records, following up with study subjects by phone or in hospital, reviewing and/or translating study documents (as appropriate). Works is performed general supervision with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of performance. The existence of these positions are dependent on availability of funding in the grants.
FUNCTIONS:
1. Recruits and enrolls human subjects in clinical research projects. Conducts follow-up visits by phone or in person, if needed.
2. Administer surveys to research subjects if needed for clinical studies.
3. Maintains ethics and compliance standards including the completion of CITI training and protection of human subjects.
4. Responsible for the operations of clinical research projects for the department. Recruit and enroll human research subjects in clinical research projects. Responsible for upholding current/future logs and documentation of research activities.
5. Performs other research related duties as required.
