Job Description:

Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, nursing supervisor, and/or charge nurse, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for planning, directing, assessing and providing nursing care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer service and a broad nursing knowledge. The registered nurse is an experienced nurse who shall orient new staff, precept students, and assume relief charge nurse duty as oriented and assigned.

Experience:

Strong clinical skills are essential and cardiac experience is desired. Must demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills, having ability to properly time manage and prioritize, make comprehensive nursing decisions based upon data collected, assessments, and changing circumstances/conditions. Should be flexible to needs of the patient and unit. Must have excellent customer service skills demonstrating ability to actively listen and provide compassionate, respectful, courteous, well informed patient centered care based upon best practices. Must be a team player. Acute care hospital experience within the past 5 years is preferred. Experience with cardiac drips is highly desirable.

Education:

Bachelors degree in nursing preferred. Must pass the arrhythmia interpretation/telemetry test at 85% prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment of telemetry/monitored patients, then annually.

Licensure/Certification:
Current state of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. ACLS must be obtained prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment. Professional organization membership preferred (NIHS and/or PCCN)

Varied days and shifts as needed, no set guaranteed hours per pay period. This is not a part time or full time position.
