Overview

A Research Analyst II position is currently available in Dr. Andrew Mayers laboratory at The Mind Research Network. A bachelor or masters degree in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, mathematics, computer science or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate work in the field is also preferred. Those with experience in signal processing, image analyses and/or neuroimaging analyses are strongly encouraged to apply.

Primary duties include writing/modifying programs in Python, R and/or Matlab to analyze complex time-series and imaging data in a Linux environment. The applicant is expected to be proficient in Python and Linux-based neuroimaging software suites such as FSL, AFNI, and FreeSurfer. Secondary duties include maintaining and modifying biomedical facilities/equipment associated with a 3 Tesla MRI scanner. As this position involves working as part of a research team, as well as working with sensitive populations and interfacing with collaborators from other sites, applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Anticipated start date is immediate.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelors degree in a biomedical engineering, computational neuroscience, computer science or a related scientific discipline and up to 4 years of demonstrated related research experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with a variety of programming languages including, but not limited to, C, C++ and Matlab; familiarity with neuroimaging techniques and analysis; demonstrated working knowledge of UNIX platforms; and a familiarity with neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.

Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Must have the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
