Research Assistant I
Job Description
A full-time Research Assistant I position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Jon Houck at The Mind Research Network in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Research Assistant I will work as part of a team on several federally-funded clinical research studies designed to evaluate the behavioral and physiological effects of nicotine and tobacco use in human research participants, as well as other studies as needed. This is an in-person role that will involve recruiting, screening, and scheduling research participants; generating and distributing recruitment materials; data entry; administering informed consent procedures; administering research questionnaires and structured assessment batteries; collecting and processing biospecimens, and other duties as needed. The research assistant will also interact with colleagues in multiple departments at the University of New Mexico including CASAA, Psychiatry, and Psychology. The position's work schedule is determined by research participant availability and will involve occasional evening or weekend participant appointments, with core working hours of 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. All applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail including the ability to closely follow study procedures, and be able to work productively as part of a team.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Individuals with a bachelors degree in psychology, or pursuing a degree in a related field are preferred. Those with experience and interest in neuroscience, clinical psychology, and/or neuroimaging are strongly encouraged to apply.

- A bachelors degree in psychology or a related research field is preferred.
- At least one year of direct experience conducting in person clinical research is preferred.
- Experience collecting data using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) is preferred.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of clinical research is preferred.
- Experience with one or more forms of scripting (e.g., BASH, python, R) is preferred.
Work is performed in a dry laboratory environment. Will operate standard office equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 20 pounds. May interact with research participants.

Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
