Overview

Seeking a full time Research Technologist to join the necropsy team. Under general direction, the Research Technologist will perform a variety of tasks in the Necropsy laboratories.

The Research Technologist assists in study execution; collects samples from and administers agents to research animals in accordance with IACUC standards with a large focus on necropsy on multiple species. Participation in other pathology and study specific related duties (tissue collection, trimming, specimen processing and management, etc.) will be required. Individual must exercise good judgment and understand impacts during collection and processing samples such as blood, serum, plasma, tissue and urine to achieve high quality samples.

Documents laboratory work to very high, accepted standards and maintains laboratory/medical equipment and supplies in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and regulations. The successful candidate will assist in administrative functions of study execution such as labeling collection tubes and transporting supplies to appropriate area.

Individual will complete moderately complex work assignments as well as documenting laboratory work and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelors degree in a related scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

The individual must be willing to work modified schedule, work in an ABSL1-3 facility as workflows require. Must have the ability to follow written standard operating procedures and to document work in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Prior experience performing necropsy, advanced tissue collection on multiple laboratory research animal models is a plus.

Prior experience utilizing LIMS software (Provantis) is a plus.
