HSE/HS Diploma plus 1 year of experience working with youth with behavioral health problems preferred. Must be 21 years of age. Must be able to read, write, understand & speak English. Considerable knowledge of the basic needs of youth, techniques of crisis intervention/behavior management, and the principles and practices of youth supervision. | ||||||||||||
Job Description: | ||||||||||||
YOUTH CARE WORKER - RESIDENTIAL: Under the supervision of the Program Director is responsible for the provision of direct services for youth in the residential program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to exhibit emotional maturity and good judgment, to include high standards of morals and speech. Good physical health and neat personal appearance. A broad knowledge of community problems and/or areas of concern involving the youth in the community. Must be able to establish an effective rapport in all dealings the clientele of the program. A statement of health may be required to meet licensing regulations. Must be dependable and flexible with regard to working hours.
JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is a professional position which requires organizational and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact and diplomacy in contacts with YDI employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulation concerning confidentiality. Good general health and ability to lift and carry 50 lbs are essential. Background investigation to include fingerprinting will be required. TB Skin Test and Physical may be required every five years. Frequent travel is required by employee and proof of satisfactory car insurance is required.
