Respiratory Care Assistant

Summary:

The primary function of the Respiratory Care Assistant is to provide assistance to Respiratory Therapists and the Respiratory Manager. Duties include routine equipment cleaning, quality control checks, inventory, stocking, transports, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during emergency events, clerical duties and computer interactions.

Responsibilities:

Collects and disassembles respiratory equipment used by patients. Cleans and assembles equipment by promoting safety by following infection control and manufacturing guidelines.

Performs quality checks to ensure equipment is functioning properly and ready for patient emergency use.

Transports and stocks equipment in designated areas of facility to maintain adequate safety levels. Ensure equipment is ready for use.

Coordinates equipment malfunction with Biomed Department.

Assists with patient transports as needed under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist. Responds to emergency events and may perform CPR as needed during medical emergencies.

Performs clerical duties and computer interactions. shares responsibility for common goals of the team by assisting staff and manager, maintaining work environment and department supply inventories and communications any departmental issues.

Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED: High School or equivalency , BLS Certification

PREFERRED: Experience in ordering and stocking of inventory preferred. Experience in clinical setting providing direct patient care preferred.
