JOB SUMMARY
Administers all available Respiratory Care procedures as ordered by a physician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS
  • Always performs and administers all general floor therapies and basic testing in a timely manner and according to standard operating procedures, including: Oxygen therapy, IPPB and hand held nebulizers, CPT, Incentive spirometry, Oximetry, and Peak flows.
  • Routinely performs all duties associated with ventilatory management and care of artificial airways with expertise and confidence. Performs efficiently/competently in code blue situations. Competent management of ventilators. Provides airway management. Responds quickly to all Rapid Response calls and provides needed expertise.
  • Proactively identifies patient/family learning needs and provides personalized education in a manner that patient/family can understand.
  • Always provides ongoing patient assessments; making recommendations to physician when appropriate with respect to patients' specific respiratory needs.
  • Always cleans, troubleshoots, maintains, and operates all respiratory care equipment; maintains adequate inventory of supplies and assures appropriate supplies are stocked.
  • Consistently performs testing accurately and according to standard operating procedures. Procures arterial blood skillfully and analyzes sample. Performs PFT screen/PFT testing according to protocol.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited school for Respiratory Care required. Must be registered (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or eligible and licensed by the State of Wisconsin or eligible. If eligible, must obtain certification and licensure within one year of hire.

None required; previous respiratory care experience preferred.
Must be CPR certified. Excellent communication skills required.

HOURS
  • 0-12 hours per week Must be available one shift per month (two of which must be a weekend). Shifts are 12 hours each and could be days and/or nights. No Holidays required.
