Restorative Director RN

The primary responsibility of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct overall operation of restorative nursing procedures following the current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long term care and assisted living facilities. You are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct restorative nursing procedures, as well as its programs and activities

  • Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the restorative nursing service department

  • Evaluates type of therapy most desirable after consulting with the therapy department

  • Determine the staffing needs for restorative nursing department

  • Educates nursing staff in restorative nursing

  • Maintains complete and accurate records of restorative nursing assessments and services

  • Coordinators service with the therapy department to provide transitional services to residents

  • Compiles reports related to restorative therapy and resident safety

  • Recommend the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed

  • Assist in calculating the number of direct nursing personnel care on duty each shift

  • Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours for restorative staff

  • Make daily rounds of the restorative nursing service department to ensure all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments

  • Schedule, attend, and participate in nursing service meetings

  • Participate in the development and implementation of MDS and care plans, including quarterly reviews as they relate to restorative nursing

  • Supervises employees in restorative nursing department; ensures that employees follow policy

  • Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served

  • Must be able to relate information concerning a residents condition

  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a Registered Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility

  • Must have, as a minimum (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state


JOB TRAINING:

  • How long it usually takes to completely perform this job when the incumbent has the minimum knowledge, skills, ability, work experience and/or education: up to 6 months


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Moves intermittently during working hours

  • Is subject to frequent interruptions

  • Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances

  • Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc

  • Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary

  • Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)

  • Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants

  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses

  • May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility

  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a mental and physical examination

  • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met

  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and /or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet

  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
  • COVID vaccine required
