Who we are

Shellpoint Mortgage Servicing (SMS) is one of Americas top-five non-bank mortgage-servicing companies. What is mortgage servicing? Our clients are businesses that own mortgage loans (such as banks and real estate investment firms). On their behalf, we manage (or "service") their loan portfolios, which means that we collect homeowners mortgage payments, pay their tax and insurance bills, and help homeowners in default to get current.

Summary:

The individual selected for the job will setup, report, and confirm revenue on new investors and review existing files to confirm revenue figures are consistent with terms of the contract. Additionally, the individual will work directly with the investor reporting manager to maintain and update the SBO 2000 system.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct oneself in a manner that reflects positively on the company in general and the department in particular, including professional, timely, and detailed responses to internal and external communication, and arriving timely to all meetings and calls.

  • Setup the repository to calculate the correct billing amounts based on the terms of the pooling and servicing agreement. Resolve any coding issues with reports by working with management to make the necessary changes and document any updates to the process.

  • Confirm the methodology is consistent month-over-month and document the testing with screenshots of code being executed to provide historical records.

  • Monthly, review the output to confirm it is within the expected variance and randomly select, sample, and review investors and individual loans to ensure that the repository ran correctly

  • Supply financial planning and analysis with the results and identify and explain any manual updates made to the original file.

  • Compare the results of the repository file to the forecasted revenue and identify the reason for any variances.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Strong business communication skills with an ability to work well in a collaborative environment including other internal departments.

  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to multi-task and respond well to pressure and competing deadlines.

  • Strong skills in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, and other formulas).

  • Fast learner - able to assimilate new ideas and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior mortgage servicing experience and/or statistical analysis required.

  • Prior SQL or other programming experience.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in an analytical, quantitative, or financial discipline and one year of experience as an analyst in a financial setting (a graduate degree may be considered as contributing towards work experience).
