Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The RN is responsible and accountable for directing, planning and organizing the nursing activities in the Recovery Room setting with a focus on patient, physician and staff needs. The RN is responsible for delivering skilled patient care through the nursing process in accordance with established policies and procedures for coordinating care among patient/family, medicine, nursing, and ancillary and other team personnel; acts as patient advocate; and maintains current knowledge and standards of professional nursing practice. The Recovery Room nurse provides care to patients immediately following surgery. The Recovery Room nurse provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered monitoring patient and informing surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current State license as a RN
- Previous Recovery Room/PACU experience preferred
- BLS required upon hire
- PALS, and ACLS Healthcare Provider Status required
- New Grads required to acquire ACLS and PALS within 30 days of employment
