PACU RN -- Position Summary:

  • Knowledge of Caring for patient Preoperatively and Postoperatively (Air ways and Cardiac Strips)
  • Knowledge of prepping patient per procedure
  • Knowledge of universal protocols
  • Assisting anesthesia with Blocks
  • Completing time-outs as needed
  • Ability to work with, and other interdisciplinary teams as needed
  • Works directly with Surgeons and Anesthesia and assists as needed
  • Understanding care of post op patient dependent on acuity
  • Nursing care for children ages 4 and up preoperatively and postoperatively
  • Understanding of Discharge Planning
  • Comfortable with explaining the surgical process to patients and families as needed, from start to finish
  • Works as a patient advocate always

Position Requirements

  • ADN in Nursing
  • Licensed RN in the State of Arizona or Compact RN License
  • BLS / ACLS / PALS as required by Department
  • Ability to work effectively with computer based charting and other clinical software programs
  • Adaptability to change, organizational skills
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Minimum of 2 Years of PACU and/or Preop Nursing Experience
  • Will consider ICU and ED Nursing Experience if the right for the position
  • Willing to cross train in ENDO and Pre-admission testing

Preferred Requirements

  • 3-5 years of recent PACU nursing Experience
  • CPAN Certification
  • Bachelors in Nursing
