Position SummaryThe RN Unit Educator is a registered professional nurse who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of clinical nursing and is responsible for developing, implementing, & evaluating a program of education for an assigned population. Programming includes initial and ongoing staff competency (including a standardized department-based orientation), as well as continued education as identified by needs assessments and regulatory requirement initiatives. Applies policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate to their populations. The scope ofthe education will be determined through collaborative practice with department management, educators, and advanced practice nurses to enhance the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care; assumes the role of an educator, facilitator, consultant, researcher and change agent.

Minimum Education RequirementsBachelor's in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited School of NursingMaster's Degree in Nursing (MSN), Education, or other related graduate field of study preferred

Minimum Experience RequirementsFour years of recent nursing experienceFour years of experience in a clinical speciality preferredTwo years of staff development, academic teaching and /or project development coordination preferredRequires advanced knowledge in nursing, evidence-based practice methods, and person-centered care concepts

Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office products and e-learning platform

License/CertificationsCurrent Colorado RN license/ Current RN license from a participating state in National Licensure CompactCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association requiredAdditional certifications may be required (refer to facility addendum(s)Professional certification preferredDemonstrates progress in obtaining staff development certification within one year of meeting eligibilityrequirements

Physical Requirements

Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly
