DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Technician position has the primary duty to perform
skilled technical maintenance work on telemetering, instrumentation, and process control equipment under
general supervision of the General Manager. This includes complete site-based works in accordance with
established manuals, work instructions, procedures and/or known standards. Incumbent will from time-to-time
work with different managers or other areas of the department and will need to complete all reporting in
accordance with different work requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Complete work in accordance with Rubicon Systems requirements (e.g. manager direction, manuals, work
instructions, etc.).Maintain SCADA system data and performance records, operate sensitive electronic instruments, tests
equipment and tools, including digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, telemetry test equipment, and calibrators,
and assists in the creation of enhancement of existing control programs.Diagnose and repair electrical/ electronic control systems and other related equipment. Inventories, orders,
catalogs, and maintains appropriate levels of spare parts and related equipment to ensure a quick and
accurate response to system failures.Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with Community policies and procedures. Work in
a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions.Follows department safety policies and practices, and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety and
accident prevention.Serves as a liaison with the equipment vendors to resolve and troubleshoot equipment abnormalities, or
malfunctions.Monitors inventory levels of equipment, estimates usage, prepares cost estimates, orders, and purchases
required supplies and materials.Have an in-depth knowledge of Rubicon products and services, and keeps up to date with changes to
products and the introduction of new products.Schedules preventative and correct maintenance using computerized maintenance management programs.Required to provide the supervisor and manger with up to date records of system performance and be able
to manage corrective measures.Researches and assists with forecasting future special system needs and preparing
proposals/recommendations for the purchase of new equipment and systems as needed for management
review.Provides technical expertise in the planning and con?guration of new systems and equipment to ensure a
seamless integration into new and existing facilities.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:Knowledge of irrigation systems and pumps is desirable.Knowledge of computer hardware, SCADA systems software and hardware, programming and applicable
operating systems.Knowledge of safety procedures for working with electrical equipment.Skill in the use of personal computers, including software applications, such as Microsoft Windows, and
Microsoft Of?ce professional software.Skill in good communication, allowing you to form positive relationships with all stakeholders.Ability to maintain SCADA operations and radio communications.Ability to understand the importance of ?lling out and submitting documentation within set timeframes.
Ability to work unsupervised.Ability to be able to follow policy and procedures.Ability to have a logical approach to problem solving.Ability to work non-standard, ?exible shifts, and respond to 0n-call emergencies.Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of specialized vocational training or college course work in
electronics; or any combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform
the duties of this position.Associate degree in Electronic Technology preferred.ADDITIONAL REE QUIREMENT:
- Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
