    DEFINITION: Under basic supervision, coordinates all transportation needs for Sunnyside Unified School District.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    TASKS:
    Coordinates and supervises the activities of School Bus Drivers and Monitors; assigns routes to substitute drivers: notify school, staff and parents of transportation service changes; verifies that all student transportation needs to and from school and or school related events are met by serving as a liaison between Transportation, parents and schools; operates a two-way radio to maintain contact with drivers with clear, concise and professional verbal communication; arranges approved requests for transportation services.

    Assigns and ensures completion of additional assignments to Bus Drivers during non-bus driving hours; notifies Transportation Director, school, and other appropriate authorities of bus emergencies; ensures commercial driver licensed employees meet District, State and Federal requirements; observes drivers and monitors regarding fitness for duty impairments before every assignment; maintains paperwork for employees, tracks attendance, answers phone calls and questions regarding the transportation system; prepares training schedules for trainers and trainees; provides coverage for crossing guard absences; operates a school bus when needed; performs related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
    Knowledge of commercial driver license requirements.
    Skill in creating and preparing schedules and routes for transportation.
    Skill in maintaining paperwork and documents.
    Skill in following oral and written instructions.
    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
    Skill in communicating verbally in English in a clear, concise and professional manner.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending and may be required to lift up to 25 pounds. May be exposed to infectious diseases.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School Diploma or equivalent,
    Two (2) years of experience as a school bus driver required, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver license; Commercial Drivers License preferred.

    Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

    Salary Grade: 12 Hourly Pay: $13.38 Hours per Day: 8 Days: 260 Start Date: 2020/2021 School Year
